Design Info

  • About The Architect

    Built Works

Built Works is a RIBA chartered architecture and design practice founded in 2020 with a vision to combine cutting edge technology with environmentalism.

  • Design Concept

The design of Chef’s Cabin specifically references the vernacular of older medieval structures and buildings found throughout the south east of England.

Typically defined by their stone or flint walls with large rounded thatched roofs, the form is softer and more organic than typical structures. In this interpretation, a rounded ‘pill shaped’ form is created with a rounded overhanging roof above.

  • Materials

Chef’s cabin will be constructed from straw bales and timber. Natural larch cladding which will silver over time references the colour of stone and flint walls used in traditional medieval structures.
